U Up? is an abstract investigation of Queer loneliness in the digital age. Using found text from various queer dating apps like Grindr and Scruff, this song cycle follows an unnamed narrator as they wrestle with larger questions, like: how do we cope with loneliness? How do we run from it? And how do we accept it? While there are many comic elements and songs found in this cycle, there are also moments of incredible vulnerability. Care should be taken by the performer to not only play into the absurdity and comedy, but also the sincerity and honesty found in these texts.
